Bunk Bed Plans
Bunk beds are fairly easy to do as it is a basic construction of poles and two beds, stacked on top of the other. The main concern here is first safety, second is practicality and sound design and thirdly, aesthetics. For safety, make sure to have a clear bunk bed plan in your hands. The instructions must be complete and clear enough for you to follow accurately. Without this being clear, safety can be seriously compromised.
The size of the bunk bed is one thing you need to consider carefully. It is better to have the size of the mattress first and use that as dimensions to make the bunk bed. At least make the frame of the beds ½ inch bigger than the mattress to make sure the mattress tucks nice and easy to the beds. Standard height must also be considered in measuring for the placement of the top bunk. Without this consideration, it would be hard for the occupant of the bottom bunk to sit up straight.
The poles which will be the posts and main foundation of the beds must be made from a good quality lumber with at least 6 inches by six inches in dimension. This post will be supporting two people all at the same time. A weak post and poorly bolted beds can severely compromise the safety of the whole bunk bed.
Bunk bed plans are easy and practical to do and the advantages of a bunk bed is undeniable. Make sure you have measured up everything and you have double checked the quality of your work before subjecting it to full use. Other than that, bunk beds are great just about for every home.
